I live and work in the beautiful rural region of Lower Normandy and Pays de Loire. This is a very peaceful country area with the possibility to live with fields all around you but having easy access to supermarkets, attractive villages, markets and local French life. The beaches and Mont St Michel are approx 45 minutes away.
The climate is hotter than the UK in the summer . We do get a good summer and spend a lot of time outside. Winters vary and can be cold. We do enjoy a good log fire with a book to read.
There are plenty of places to visit here and if you enjoy the outdoor life there are plenty of things to do. I have horses to ride and drive Shetland ponies.
Lower Normandy and Pays de Loire Properties
Houses here vary from colombage cottages to large stone houses. A lot of French houses have good sized gardens another hobby of mine as trees and fruit grow really well here. There are also smallholdings for sale where you can be a mini farmer. There are plenty of interesting small town properties also which give you a chance to live the local life and visit the boulangerie, restaurant etc.
I enjoy my job meeting lots of different people, driving around the quiet roads helping people to find that little bit of peace that we all need.

The Morvan is a mountainous massif lying just to the west of the Côte d'Or escarpment in Burgundy, France. It is a northerly extension of the Massif Central and is of Variscan age. It is composed of granites and basalts and formed a promontory extending northwards into the Jurassic sea.
In this video, (filmed in March) so the weather is not the greatest, features Dinan, Cancale, and Mont St Michel. The old streets in Dinan, and the the beach front at Cancale are well depicted. Not the greatest advert for Mont St Michel with its narrow streets and vendors selling holiday tat!

Béziers itself is an impressive sight, bordered on three sides by the Orb river and the Canal du Midi, the ancient town, dominated by its cathedral sits atop of a rocky spur overlooking Hérault department or to you and me, Hérault county.
It is a town worth exploring being a member of the Most Ancient European Towns Network.
The canal is certainly a marvel built nearly 100 years before the Basingstoke Canal and was clearly a great success.
Inaugurated in 1681 to help develop trade joining the Atlantic with the Mediterranean, the Canal du Midi is today classified as an UNESCO Heritage Site.
Its shady banks, locks and little bridges make a great place to unwind and explore, either by boat or on the cycle path where you can enjoy life at a more moderate and peaceful pace.
Admirers of beautiful architecture, scholars of French literature and history buffs are sure to love the nearby town of Pézenas
This beautifully restored castle is situated in the idyllic hills of the Gers region in the South West of France, offering perfect views of the Pyrenees mountain chain. While in an amazingly quiet, totally private and picturesque location it is at the same time close to golf and other sports facilities and only a few minutes from Marciac, center of a renowned international Jazz Festival. The original building that stood on the site dated back to before the Middle Ages, it was destroyed during the revolution and rebuilt in 1827.
When visiting it becomes immediately apparent that the current owners have put a lot of love and energy into this elegant residence by executing detailed and careful restoration work.

Lille is a popular destination with its easy access with Eurostar.
Everything you want to see is within walking distance of Lille Europe station, from where it's an easy stroll into the city.
En route you might want to drop in to Les Trois Brasseurs opposite Lille's other railway station, and taste one of the rather good beers that this friendly micro-brewery has to offer.
With fountains splashing at her feet, the Goddess atop her column reigns over the busy shops and pavement cafés of the Grand' Place -- official title Place du Général de Gaulle. Lille was the General's birthplace.
Surprisingly just back on the market - so act quickly if you are interested.

1st for French Property MD Howard Farmer says that "Provence has been our strongest market in 2011. We have seen an increase in sales in the first 6 months of the year for this region."
Here is a American perspective on the Provence Market:
The real estate market in Provence is healthy this year, according to Antoine Reguis, owner of Your Provence, a real estate company based in Goult. Well-priced homes sell in four to six months, “which is a normal delay for this rural market,” Mr. Reguis said. Andrea Bichi, a property consultant for Your Provence and the listing agent for this property, said that in the current market homes often sell for 10 to 15 percent below the asking price.
“The prices are still high, in spite of a slight decrease in 2010,” said Marie-Madeleine Nelson, managing director of the real estate company Un Mas en Provence. She added that sales prices spiked 40 percent just before the economic downturn in 2008, and that the 2010 decrease was part of a market correction.
Village houses in Provence with no outdoor space cost about 300,000 euros ($425,000 at .71 euros to the dollar), Mr. Reguis said, while village houses with gardens or terraces can command as much as 800,000 euros. Farmhouses with a bit of land start at 700,000 to 800,000 euros, but Mr. Reguis said most farmhouses in good condition cost 1 million to 2 million euros. It would be rare, he added, for a country house in Provence to sell for more than 7 million euros.

For example, in the Midi-Pyrenees, a new solar power station has just opened in Avignonet-Lauragais in the Haute-Garonne, covering an area of thirteen hectares and generating around 4.5 Mw. This should be enough to supply the electricity needs of around 1750 homes in the area, excluding electric heating.
It does not have massive capability but at least the Midi-Pyrenees does seem committed to more solar energy generation - there are new projects in schools to generate electricity within the school campus.
So Expatica have an interesting article explaining the process, and how to improve your chances. For example, how should you construct your CV?
